Gandhi Jayanti Celebrated in Antwerpen; WHRO Europe President Vijay Malik Participates in Event


 Indian Ambassador Pranay Kumar Verma, Honorary Consul General and Governor of Antwerpen Join Celebrations at Provinciehuis

Antwerpen, Belgium | 2 October 2026:
A special Gandhi Jayanti celebration was organised on 2 October at the historic Provinciehuis in Antwerpen, bringing together prominent diplomatic representatives, government officials and members of the Indian community.

The programme was attended by Pranay Kumar Verma, Ambassador of India to Belgium and the European Union, along with Mr. Dirk Dielen, Governor of Antwerpen, the Honorary Consul General of India for Antwerp, Limburg, East Flanders & West Flanders, representatives of Indian associations and members of the Indian community.

Vijay Malik, President, World Human Rights Organization (WHRO) Europe, also participated in the programme.


The gathering paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and his enduring ideals of truth, non-violence, peace, equality and humanity. Speakers highlighted the continued relevance of Gandhi's philosophy in promoting peace, harmony and respect for human rights around the world.

Representatives of WHRO said that Gandhi Jayanti provides an important opportunity to reaffirm the universal values of peace, non-violence, dignity, equality and service to humanity.

The organisation further stated that Mahatma Gandhi's message of non-violence and humanity closely reflects WHRO's commitment to human rights, social justice, peace and peaceful coexistence.

The event brought together members of the Indian community and social organisations in a spirit of unity and friendship. Participants remembered Gandhi's contribution to humanity and called for greater cooperation in building a peaceful, inclusive and compassionate society.

World Human Rights Organization (WHRO) Europe reiterated its commitment to promoting human dignity, equality, peace and humanitarian values across Europe and internationally.
